Life Entabeni Hospital - Heart Transplant

The Life Entabeni Hospital have a wellness walk once a month and all walkers have to wear red T/shirts. The off duty dispatcher as well as myself participated in this walk being about 5km. We get to meet patients that have had transplants done. Next month there is a 10km fun walk and again we will be walking with these patients, giving them moral support, its great fun.

On the 13/05/2007 we assisted them when we uplifted a heart from Durban International Airport from Cape Town and transported it to Life Entabeni Hospital. This was their 50th transplant which is a huge achievement for them.

On the 25/05/2007 was their 10th year anniversary.

RE: DONOR ORGAN TRANSPORT 13/5/2007

On behalf of Life Entabeni Hospital, Mr. R. Kleinloog and myself, I wish to extend a huge thank you for the level of professionalism and assistance received with regards to the above-mentioned donor organ transport from Durban International Airport to Entabeni Theatre.

It was certainly a pleasure dealing with your staff with regards to timing and availability of the transport. The controllers kept me updated every step of the way, and put up with my nagging!!

Our recipient (heart), a 65 year old male is doing well and on track for a full recovery.

Again it was a pleasure working with your staff, and I look forward to our dealings in the future. Congratulations on a job well done.

Kind Regards
