Dear ER24,

HABIT 320: Thank you for your involvement in the Charity Cycle

Thank you for the support for the Dec 2007 Charity Cycle. Your active involvement is valued and appreciated.

Please convey our gratitude to Andre and Samantha.

HABIT is an NPO and registered Trust that aims to assist babies affected by HIV and in particular those who have been abandoned.

Every year we arrange a 320km Charity Cycle and this year the highlight was the involvement and actual participation of Phil Liggett (The international voice of Cycling).

The final road closure and blue light procession to the Mr Price Head Office finish was brilliant.

The heat on the road with the tar melting at the top of Fox Hill (Pietermaritzburg) (42 degrees was registered), after the cyclists had pedaled 230km for almost 10 hours was insane!

The Baby House in Umhlanga accommodates up to 6 transitional infants at a time. This Home is to be used as a model for others to copy and to be actively seen in our community, whilst helping to meet the need in KZN which has a dire HIV problem.

I am sure that you would agree that these babies are victims finding themselves in a predicament due to no fault of their own.

We received an award from Nedbank as a Local Hero and want to confirm that as a supporter, you are the heroes who assist us in work we do.

Other individual letters of thanks are being sent to the supporters/donors, but special mention must go to Phil and Trish Liggett, Mr Price, Springbok Atlas, Plan for Life, National Brands, Max Cluer, Subaru, Manline.

These supporters ensured the cyclists and cycles got to the start / finish safely or raised sponsorship in excess of R30K.

The most important THANK YOU is for the individual cyclists who participated in the event and help us raise close to R300k. See you again Monday 8th December 2008. www.charitycycle.org

Dear ER24,

I had the very sad experience of finding our domestic worker apparently dead in his bed from natural causes early on Thursday morning, 14th June.

Imagine, if you will, the distress, confusion and frustration of trying to obtain any municipal support, including police and ambulance services, willing and able to come to our property to confirm the death and to guide me further with mortuary services, etc. After many futile phone calls to listed municipal emergency services numbers, which ended either with a hollow promise or an “I don’t know” response, I phoned ER24.

Within just a few minutes, a very professionally turned out paramedic called Warren arrived at my door, closely followed by colleagues in an ER24 ambulance. The team knew exactly what to do and, having tested my employee’s body for any vital signs, provided me with a signed confirmation of death. After consulting with me, Warren was also able to arrange for a respectable funeral service to remove the body.

It’s after such an unexpected and traumatic occasion, for which so few of us are prepared in advance, that one truly appreciates the service excellence which describes ER24’s response.

Well done and thanks!

Your guys response time were very good and the team work displayed once you guys were there was OUTSTANDING not only with the other ER24 units but with all involved!!!!

I really hope & pray the person that you guys assisted is going to be ok, but it’s good to know that when you go through a time of distress that there are people out there that you can rely on!

Keep up the GREAT work guys!!!

Mr Hattingh

We had the misfortune of having one of our boys injured, suspected back accident. Your staff Nickie, Naphtally and Elmar attended to the accident. The professional manner in which they carried out their duties must be admired – their manner in which they calmed both patient and coaches was excellent. Hopefully, the injury is not serious but the job was well done.

Yours faithfully

Dear Nicole

I would very much like to thank your paramedic team, a gentleman by the name of Greg, and a lady whose name I cannot remember, for attending to my elderly mother (Margaret Van Sittert) with such love, compassion and care.

My Mom fell ill and was taken to Vincent Palotti Hospital from Pinelands Place on Monday 2 April. Greg was fantastic. He treated my mother as though she was his own and explained to me everything that he was doing so that I could fully understand what was happening. When we arrived at the hospital he took much care in explaining the procedure to me and taking me to the correct person at reception. He really made me feel calm at a very traumatic time.

This is the first time that I have used your services and I am very impressed.

I would appreciate it if you could pass on this message of thanks to him. Sadly my mother passed away on the 6th April, but he paid an integral part of the incredible service we received at this sad time.

Kind regards

LETTER OF THANKS AND APPRECIATION

The Health Centre Makhado would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation towards the following personnel of ER24 ambulance service.
Mr Hannes Hattingh Branch Manager of ER24 ambulance service in Polokwane

Mr Gerhard Jacobs

Mr Elmar Maritz

Me Frieda Phasa

During an initial medical personnel shortage for the ACPD (Air Power Capability Demonstration) the Health Centre was forced to get a solution for the problem. Taking in mind that the Health Centre made use of the ER24 ambulance in the past it was easy to contact them again. Without any hesitation this emergency ambulance service was willing to render medical emergency service at the Roodewal Bombing Range. This willingness to render emergency services on such short notice is really highly appreciated.

Once again the Health Centre wants to express their sincere thanks.

A WORD OF THANKS

To everyone who was at our side, sent cards, flowers, gift baskets, called, smsed, emailed, prayed for us or just kept us in their thoughts.

We want to take time to count our blessings and thank everyone who has provided support and to acknowledge our sincere, heartfelt appreciation for all your thoughts, prayers and well wishes for both Paul and Lucky since the accident.

Thanks be to God, first and foremost, and thank You that Paul is alive, well and continuing to improve.

Special thanks must go also to the prompt, life-saving efforts of the CMS and ER24 medics and to the doctors and staff at the Glynwood Hospital.

We continue to stand in faith, trusting in God and take this journey one day at a time.

With love

Paul, Chris, Hannah, James and Claire
