Corporate Health and Safety

The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 states:

“ To provide for the health and safety of persons at work and for the health and safety of persons in connection with the use of plant and machinery; the protection of persons other than persons at work against hazards to health and safety arising out of or in connection with the activities of persons at work; to establish an advisory council for occupational health and safety; and to provide for matters connected therewith. ”

The ER24 Training Academy will provide your organisation with professional guidance in terms of meeting the Act’s requirements, including the number of trainees and level of training that your organisation legally requires. Training can be facilitated nationally on site (subject to the number of delegates and location) or at the ER24 Training Academy located in Paulshof, Johannesburg.

The following Accredited Health and Safety training courses are offered by the ER24 Training Academy:

Pre-Level One First Aid

Pre requisites: 9 – 12 years old, 13 – 15 years old
(12 Hours)

This course is aimed at the child who is too young to do the Level One First Aid Course, yet very interested in helping others. The course will cover: The principles and objectives of first aid, age appropriate basic anatomy and physiology, how to call for assistance, awareness of own limitations, safety, basics of wound care, control of bleeding, emergency care for burns, “Hands only CPR”, choking, water safety, recovery position. All candidates completing this course are issued with a certificate of attendance.

Min Delegates: Not more than 12 children
Certification: Certificate of attendance.

First Aid Level 1

Pre requisites: Above the age of 16
(2 Days)

The first aid Level One covers basic adult anatomy and physiology and basic first aid including fractures, basic bleeding control, choking, CPR and AED usage. This course is accredited with the Department of Labour and complies with the minimum Occupational Health and Safety requirements. On successful completion of the course the delegate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

First Aid Level 1 & 2

Pre requisites: Above the age of 16
(4 Days)

The combined first aid level one and two covers principles of first aid and safety including emergency scene management, artificial respiration, one rescuer adult CPR with AED Training, choking, basic wounds and bleeding, shock with unconsciousness and fainting, basic fractures, burns and head and spinal injuries, joint injuries, rescue carries, chest injuries, hand injuries, eye injuries, multiple casualty management, two rescuer adult CPR with AED Training, pelvic and abdominal injuries, child resuscitation, infant resuscitation, environmental injuries and illnesses, poisons, bites and stings, seizures, management of foreign objects, soft tissue injuries and elementary and applied anatomy and physiology. This course is accredited with the Department of Labour and complies with Occupational Health and Safety requirements for higher risk Industrial and work based environments. On successful completion of the course the delegate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

First Aid Level 2

Pre requisites: Above the age of 16
(3 Days)

The first aid Level Two covers basic adult & child anatomy and physiology and more in-depth first aid including fractures and basic bleeding control, choking, CPR and AED usage as per the level one program however to add to this we also include rescue carrying, environmental emergencies and child emergencies. This course is accredited with the Department of Labour and complies with Occupational Health and Safety requirements for higher risk Industrial and work based environments. On successful completion of the course the delegate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

First Aid Level 2 & 3

Pre requisites: Above the age of 16, must be in possession of a valid First Aid Certificate Level 1 & Grade 10 Certificate

The first aid level two and three covers a refresh on principles of first aid and safety including emergency scene management, artificial respiration, one rescuer adult CPR with AED Training, choking, basic wounds and bleeding, shock with unconsciousness and fainting, basic and specific fractures, burns and head and spinal injuries, joint injuries, rescue carries, chest injuries, hand injuries, eye injuries, multiple casualty injury management, two rescuer adult CPR with AED Training, pelvic and abdominal injuries, child resuscitation, infant resuscitation, environmental injuries and illnesses, poisons, bites and stings, seizures, management of foreign objects, soft tissue injuries and elementary and applied anatomy and physiology. The course also includes general principles, strain and sprain injuries,crush injuries, allergic reactions, emergency child birth, behavioural emergencies, drowning, ethics related to emergency care. This course is accredited with the Department of Labour and covers Occupational Health and Safety requirements for higher risk industrial and work based environments. On successful completion of the course the delegate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

First Aid Level 3

Pre requisites: Above the age of 16, must be in possession of a valid First Aid Certificate Level 1 & Grade 10 Certificate

The first aid Level Three covers advanced first aid adult & child anatomy and physiology and advanced first aid including fractures and basic bleeding control, choking, CPR and AED usage as per the level one & two programs, however to add to this we also include rescue carrying, environmental emergencies, child emergencies, spinal immobilization of casualties. This course is accredited with the Department of Labour and covers Occupational Health and Safety requirements for higher risk industrial and work based environments. On successful completion of the course the delegate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

The first aid level three covers principles of first aid and safety including emergency scene management, artificial respiration, one rescuer adult CPR with AED Training, choking, basic wounds and bleeding, shock with unconsciousness and fainting, basic and specific fractures, burns and head and spinal injuries, joint injuries, rescue carries, chest injuries, hand injuries, eye injuries, multiple casualty management, two rescuer adult CPR with AED Training, pelvic and abdominal injuries, child resuscitation, infant resuscitation, environmental injuries and illnesses, poisons, bites and stings, seizures, management of foreign objects, soft tissue injuries and elementary and applied anatomy and physiology, general principles of threatened limb management, strain and sprain injuries, crush injuries, allergic reactions, emergency child birth, behavioural emergencies, drowning, ethics related to emergency care. This course is accredited with the Department of Labour and covers Occupational Health and Safety requirements for higher risk industrial and work based environments. On successful completion of the course the delegate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

Family & Friends CPR

Pre requisites: Civilian
(4 Hours)

The AHA Family and Friends CPR is a four hour program and is ideal for family members and friends who what to enhance their life skills. The program includes choking, CPR and AED usage and the course is based on international best practise.

PedFACTs

Pre requisites: Child Minders and Teachers
(8 Hours)

Childminders and teachers need to know what to do when a child is injured or becomes suddenly and severely ill. Most injuries that require first aid are not life-threatening. Usually; first aid involves simple, common sense procedures. However first aid can sometimes mean the difference between life and death. All caregivers and teachers should have paediatric first aid training. The PedFACTs courses is designed to give caregivers and teachers the education and confidence that they need to effectively care for a sick or injured child and is an 8 hour program.

Sports First Aid

Pre requisites: Coaches, Athletes, Teachers
(1 Day)

When athletes become ill or injured during practise or competition, the coaches and athletics trainers need to know how to respond. Whether on the court, on the field, at the pool or simply in the gym – upon completion of this course the coaches and athletes will know what to do when an emergency arises. Not only will they be able to manage the emergency, but also cover the “prevention is better than cure” aspect ensuring a better quality of life and fitness. This program is an 8 hour program.
